In what cases are lenses more pointed out than glasses at the child? It is in this question that three ophtalmologistes answered, at the invitation of Menicon Europe. The equipment in lenses is compulsory at every baby's in the case of an unilateral cataract, that it is congenital or post traumatic. The rigid lens is then, from a distance, the best treatment, because the children of this age support implants badly.

Later, between three and seven years, indications are always absolutely medical. Objective is here to allow a development of vision which would be impossible to achieve in glasses. The most frequent indication is the traumatic, consecutive cataract in an ocular wound. Lenses, rigid, are continuously carried during seven-thirty days.

Finally, lenses are offered to the children from eight to sixteen years old for strong myopia and progressive myopia, important longsightednesses and of strabismus, especially if they are badly controlled by glasses. The new rigid materials allow an extended harbour, in complete safety. Menicon, to accompany the bearers of lenses of less than sixteen years, conceived a Young card which guarantees the unwarranted nature of adaptation and of replacement in case of loss, of breakage or of change of the parametres of vision

The cost of contact lenses, renewed every other year, is included between 100 and 150 a year.
