For what are of use patch tests?

The objective of the patch tests of allergy is to try to know if the child is sensitised to one or several allerg nes* and to identify them. The results of these tests are very fast obtained, at the end of about fifteen minutes. Linked to information concerning the circumstances of appearance of the symptoms of illness, they allow to the doctor to draw from practical conclusions.

If internal environment is rich in allergens (dust mites of the dust, animals, mildew) and that patch tests are positive, he is practically sure that the child is allergic. When the child has a rhinitis and an asthma and that he is only sensitised to the dust mites, measures aiming at abolishing the dust mites of the flat and, especially, of the bedroom must be taken.
